Ghana held its inaugural celebration of International Men's Day in November 2009 (see details below). The event was conceived and organized by the Ghana Fatherhood Initiative Foundation and was hailed a great success. Due to strong publicity this event received in Ghana and around the world, Samuel NiiTeiko Tackie, founder and President of GFIF was invited to act as IMD coordinator for all Ghana by International Men's Day founder Dr. Jerome Teelucksingh. He greatfully accepted the task.
